Family holidays in the Lake District

As far back as Beatrix Potter’s childhood, families were flocking to the Lakes for their holidays. Time in the Lakes is all about the great outdoors, and kids can while away hours on the adventure playgrounds at our parks, making new friends and getting some fresh air. Plus at White Cross Bay and Fallbarrow you'll also find a sports court and arcade games - meaning there's something to do come rain or shine.

The Lake District is naturally a romantic place to visit and our holiday parks all offer plenty of opportunity for you to relax and enjoy each other’s company, whether it’s a sauna or spa bath at White Cross Bay, watching the sunset by the lake at Fallbarrow or relaxing with a drink at the Haybarn Inn at Limefitt

Things to do in the Lake District

The Lake District offers some of the most beautiful walks and views in the whole country, so if you enjoy exploring the natural wonders, you’ll never tire of holidaying here. Of course, your feet might get tired at some point, but there’s still plenty to do away from the fells, with countless local cafes, pubs and restaurants to explore. The Lake District offers unbeatable aesthetics, and is always trending with social media fans looking to capture its iconic scenery.

If hiking isn’t quite exhilarating enough for you, the Lakes are also home to plenty of watersports, sailing, canoeing, kayaking and much more, while dry land gives you the chance to try mountain biking, climbing and many more outdoor sports and activities.

But the Lake District isn’t just about getting out and staying active. You'll find lots of history, too, not least seeing where the likes of Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth lived - or digging deeper into local history at the Honister Slate Mine.

Elsewhere, the Lake District's charming towns are dotted with independent shops to check out as well as boat tours, steam train rides, an aquarium and so much more. For families, the World of Beatrix Potter brings the likes of Peter Rabbit, Mrs Tiggywinkle and Jemima Puddle-Duck from the pages to real life for kids to enjoy.
